Handsome Jolly Jim was donated by his trainer to The Exceller Fund because he wanted to make sure this hard trying campaigner found a good home when he retired at the age of 11 with 135 starts.
Jim did have one obstacle to overcome upon retirement. Unfortunately, while taking time off from the track over the winter, this poor guy got kicked in the head by another horse and wound up with a broken jaw. It seemed to heal nicely, though it took awhile for the infection to subside. Due to the injury, Jim lolls his tongue some the time and is not ideal as a riding prospect. Therefore, he will remain with TEF throughout the remainder of his days.
